Watercolor Society Membership Rules and Agreements
1. Membership Fee
- Members must be 18 years old and above
- Each member agrees to pay a 200 SRD yearly membership fee.
- Members will only be required to pay 30 SRD per session for members if they attend the monthly painting session.
2. Monthly Painting Sessions
- Monthly painting sessions will always be scheduled on one Saturday of the month, except during September and December when no sessions will be held.
- Each session will focus on improving watercolor techniques, sharing creative ideas, and building a supportive community.
- Members are expected to be respectful of others’ work and space during sessions.
3. Studio Use
- Members may use the art studio for personal artistic purposes, provided they inform the society 2 months in advance and 3 to 5 months in advance for art exhibitions.
- Studio use must not conflict with any scheduled workshops or events organized by the society.
- Members using the art studio will be responsible for taking care of the facility during their use, ensuring that the space is left clean and orderly after each session or activity.
- Donations may be given by members upon using the art studio to help support the upkeep and operation of the space.
4. Small-Scale Exhibitions
- The society will host the venue for exhibitions, but the exhibitor is responsible for promoting their exhibition independently.
- Exhibitors must ensure that all necessary arrangements, including marketing, setup, and the promotion of their artworks, are handled by them.
- The society is not responsible for any costs associated with the promotion of the exhibition.
5. Exhibition Space and Set-Up
- Exhibitions are available for 500 SRD for a minimum of 1 week or 1000 SRD for one month.
- Exhibitors are responsible for all setup, including framing, hanging, and ensuring the proper display of their artworks.
- The exhibitor must be present in the studio during the period of their exhibition and will be responsible for taking care of the studio during the exhibition period.
6. IWS Suriname Annual Exhibit
- The watercolor society will have a yearly exhibit under Suriname Watercolor Society and IWS Suriname. As members of the Suriname watercolor society, participants will automatically be members of IWS Suriname.
- This exhibit will be under the umbrella of C and C Art Foundation, and members will have the opportunity to showcase their works at this event.
7. Financing for International Exhibitions
- The watercolor society is envisioning to finance selected artist members to send their works for international exhibitions of IWS. This support aims to encourage and assist members in showcasing their work on a global platform.
8. Code of Conduct
- Members are expected to act respectfully towards fellow members, guests, and the society’s facilities.
- Any disruptive behavior, such as loud or disrespectful actions, will not be tolerated and may result in the revocation of membership.
- The studio should be left in a clean and orderly state after each session or use.
9. Membership Renewal and Cancellation
- The 200 SRD membership fee is renewed annually.
- Members can cancel their membership at any time, but the membership fee is non-refundable.
- If a member consistently fails to attend sessions without prior notice, their membership may be reviewed or revoked by the society.
10. Liability
- The society is not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury incurred while members are using the studio or participating in activities.
- Members are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their materials and art while participating in sessions or events.
